Bob underviser ved flere anerkjente workshop senter og skoler rundt om i verdenen, og betraktes som en av de bedre foreleserne i multimedia. Workshoppen vil foregå på engelsk og Bob beskriver den slik:
Multimedia storytelling has opened up a whole new world of opportunities for photographers. Using a still camera and digital recorder, you can now create and share stories that we once only imagined. As a student of this class you will learn that adding audio, in the form of ambient sounds and interviews, to your images, is the simplest, quickest, and most powerful way to make photo-stories more compelling for the web viewer. You will learn how to use the power of sound to amplify the impact of our images and stories, to give them depth and texture and resonance. The power of the still image is still the key, but well learn how to combine images, sound, motion and text together to increase the impact of our still photography and to create a new kind of story that we can share online. Each person will record, photograph and create a short multimedia presentation in the class.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Well start by studying and discussing examples of successful stories that use great images and strong audio.
Next step is sound, and we will learn that the key to multimedia storytelling is strong audio. We will look at what kind of recorder and microphone to use, how to listen for for great sound, how to record clean sound, how to conduct an interview with a person, what makes a powerful audio track, and finally how to edit our sound. Well record sounds and interviews and practice editing. Well also learn how to mix sound and music together.
Next well talk about making photographs for multimedia. While one perfect image stands out on a gallery wall or in the pages of a news paper, were conditioned to see fresh images constantly on our computer screen. Well talk about how to deliver a number of different kinds of images for a multimedia piece. Well talk about the types of images that work well in multimedia. And well go out and capture them.
Back in class, well edit our images and sounds together to create powerful multi-media stories, in the form of a slide shows with audio tracks and interviews. Finally, we will learn to quickly and easily upload polished projects online.
Youll need your laptop (PC or MAc) and intermediate computer skills and a basic knowledge of an image editing program like Lightroom/ Bridge. You will also need to provide your own headphones and audio recorder. (Her vil vi sende ut en liste med tips fra Bob når du melder deg på workshoppen.)
Students produce their work in SoundSlides and Audacity, a free sound editing program available on-line. Students are encouraged to try Audacity before the workshop. This course is both apple and pc friendly.
